FAQs

How do I reverse an assembly in TidyStock and restore the components? Can I set the cost to zero?

TidyStock doesn’t currently have a “Disassembly” function, so you’ll need to reverse the process manually using stock adjustments. Here’s what to do:

  1. Check original quantities and costs
Review the ST05 report to confirm the quantities and costs used when you originally assembled the item.
  2. Adjust stock correctly
    • Reduce the assembled item by the same quantity and total cost that were originally applied.
    • Increase each component by the same quantities and total costs (as positive values).
This ensures your component items are restored accurately and your overall stock valuation remains correct.
  3. Do NOT set cost to zero
Entering zero for cost would lower your average cost for those items and make your records inaccurate. Since the components were originally purchased, they still hold value, you’re just reintroducing them into stock.
  4. For unmanaged components
If any components are unmanaged, you only need to adjust their quantities (cost won’t apply).
