Set up Microsoft project integration

This add-in is only available on Project plans 3 and 5, and Project Professional 2019. This add-in enables you to easily import resources from Tidy into Microsoft Project and export your projects and resources from Microsoft Project into Tidy.

Step 1.

First, log-in to Microsoft Project. Click on the project you would like to work on, then navigate to the Project tab, in the toolbar.

Step 2.

Once you are in the Project tab, click Get Add-ins.

Step 3.

This will then open the Office Add-ins box, where you will select the Tidy Add-in.

Step 4.

Search for Tidy in the search bar. You will then see Tidy Task Sync display.

Step 5.

Once you have found Tidy's add-in, click Add.

You will see a pop-up box display. Click Continue.

Step 6.

Tidy's Microsoft Project Add-in will appear, click Get Started.

Step 7.

Once you click Get Started, you will be presented with the Application Configuration screen.

This is where you connect your Tidy account with Microsoft Project. Or, if you do not yet have a Tidy account, you can start a free trial.

Step 8.

Input your API key into the API field, and your Application URL in the Application URL field.

To retrieve your Tidy API key, please navigate to Global Settings, click Users.

Step 9.

Click Edit on a user, then scroll to the bottom on the screen to find the Allow API Access section. If you do not see Allow API Access, please contact us.

Step 10.

Click Allow API Access. Once ticked, you will see your API key. Click Save. Copy your API Key, ready to paste it in the field in Microsoft Project.

Step 11.

Input your Company URL e.g.https:/yourcompany.tidywork.com/

Please input your project information into Microsoft Project before clicking Connect. The required fields are TaskName, Duration, Resource Names. You can add other information if necessary. Click Connect.

You will then be able to Import and Map Resources from your Tidy account into Microsoft Project. Please note, if you have not added any information to your project yet, both options will be greyed out not be able to be clicked. Click on Import & Map Resources.

Step 12.

The Resource names within your Project will then appear, and the TimeWriters within your Tidy account will automatically be able to be selected from the drop-down menu.

Step 13.

Click the drop down menu, and map the resource with the time writer in the drop-down menu.

Once you have completed all required mappings, click on Save Mappings.

Step 14.

If you have completed everything correctly, a success message will appear. If you receive an incomplete message, please retry and ensure you have correctly mapped the resources with time writers.

Once you have imported and mapped resources, you will then be able to create a project in your Tidy account. To do this, click Create Project in Tidy.

Step 15.

The Export Project screen will appear. Fill out all the required fields. These fields are:

  • Project Name
  • Project Code (click Auto if you want a project code automatically generated)
  • Project Description
  • Project Group
  • Project Manager
  • Customer
  • Tax Code
  • Start Date

Step 16.

Once you have filled out the required fields, click Go.

If you have filled in the information correctly, a success message will appear, and your project will now be available in your connect Tidy account.

Step 17.

Now, when you go into Projects in your Tidy account, you will see the corresponding project.
